When you contact our support or want to look up a specific message via the API, it helps us if you provide the unique message ID. It is available for every message (SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, Voice) and can be found in two places in the dashboard.
In conversations
- Open Conversations in the seven dashboard.
- Select the desired conversation from the list on the left.
- Click Details on the message you are looking for.
In the side panel you will see the unique identifier under Message ID. Use the icon next to it to copy the ID to your clipboard.
In the journal
- Open the Journal in the seven dashboard.
- Find the entry for the message you are looking for.
- Click the info icon at the end of the row.
In the detail dialog you will find the message ID together with the other send details (timestamp, status, cost, recipient).
What is the ID used for?
- Support requests: With the ID, our support team can trace the send directly without you having to provide recipient number and timestamp separately.
- API lookups: Through the seven API you can use the ID to retrieve the current status of a message.
- Webhooks: Delivery reports and status messages include the ID, allowing you to uniquely match them to the original send.
