Set Up WhatsApp Business API with seven

How to connect your WhatsApp Business Account to seven.io using Meta's Cloud API and Embedded Signup.

seven.io connects to WhatsApp through Meta's Cloud API. This guide walks you through the requirements and setup process.

Requirements

Before you begin, make sure you have the following:

  • A Meta Business Account (formerly Facebook Business Manager)
  • A verified WhatsApp Business Account linked to your Meta Business Account
  • At least one phone number that you want to use with WhatsApp Business API
  • An active seven.io account - sign up at dashboard.seven.io if you do not have one yet

Step-by-step Setup

1. Open WhatsApp Settings

Log in to dashboard.seven.io and navigate to Settings > Sender IDs. Click Connect WhatsApp.

2. Embedded Signup Flow

seven uses Meta's Embedded Signup to streamline the connection process. When you click the connect button, a Meta popup window will open. In this popup:

  1. Log in to your Meta (Facebook) account if prompted.
  2. Authorize seven to access your WhatsApp Business Account.
  3. Select or create a WhatsApp Business Account within the popup.
  4. Choose the phone number you want to connect. You can use an existing number or register a new one.
  5. Verify your phone number if required - Meta will send a verification code via SMS or voice call.

Once you complete the Embedded Signup, the popup closes and your WhatsApp Business Account is linked to seven.

3. Verify the Connection

After a successful connection, you will see your linked WhatsApp number and account details in the seven dashboard under Settings > Sender IDs.

What Comes Next

With your WhatsApp Business API connected, you can:

  • Create message templates and submit them for Meta approval
  • Send template messages to initiate conversations
  • Receive and reply to messages within the 24-hour session window
  • Set up webhooks to receive inbound messages and delivery reports
  • Use the seven API to send WhatsApp messages programmatically
